Why Stainless Steel
Benefits of Stainless Steel
Quality: Omega uses 300 series pure non-magnetic metals that will not rust. The best quality metals along with Omega’s craftsmanship, accuracy, and precision makes for a product that will last a lifetime!
Corrosion Resistant Steel (CRES): Stainless steel is a low carbon metal containing at least 10% chromium by weight. The use of the product determines the alloyed grade of steel. A good way to test stainless steel is through the magnet test.
A little fact….Simply place a magnet on the stainless steel item. If the magnet sticks to the item then it contains more carbon which means it is more likely to rust. The less magnetic the item the better quality metal.
Hygiene: The easy cleaning ability of stainless makes it the first choice for strict hygiene conditions, such as hospitals, dormitories, kitchens, abattoirs and other food processing plants.
Fire and heat Resistance: 300 Series metals retain good strength at high temperatures.
Aesthetic Appearance: The bright, easily maintained surface of stainless steel provides a modern and attractive appearance.
Strength-to-weight Advantage: The work-hardening property of austenitic grades, that results in a significant strengthening of the material from cold-working alone, and the high strength duplex grades, allow reduced material thickness over conventional grades, therefore cost savings.
Impact Resistance: The austenitic microstructure of the 300 series provides high toughness, from elevated temperatures to far below freezing, making these steels particularly suited to cryogenic applications.
Longevity: When the total life cycle costs are considered, stainless is often the least expensive material option.
Environmentally Friendly & Recyclable: Stainless steel has a long service life and is 100% recyclable. For cleaning the stainless, it is not necessary (nor encouraged) to use harsh chemicals. This means that cleaning and maintaining the product will not impact our environment. The majority of stainless today is from re-melted stainless steel.
